Vess Benton lined up at quarterback for the Lions and handed the ball off to Aaron Dillard who rushed over left guard for a 9-yard gain. Corey Stewart took the pitch out on second down but the ball was lost on the toss with the Flame defender on the spot to make the recovery.

Comments from Coach Lamar Harris:
"We got off to a very shaky start tonight. Anytime you spot a team 14 points with less than two minutes ticking off the game clock you've put yourself at a deep disadvantage. We knew that they would arrive ready to defend their state ranking. Those first two scores could have been a game killer for us but we quickly found the desire to fight back before allowing the game to get away from us. We had a great reaction from the crowd and returned to the field after half time to take a stand and erase time from the clock in the third quarter. The guys made some big plays on both sides of the ball and kept the game close, although our kick off coverage almost cost us the game. It took a deep desire and a dedicated resistance to get this victory. I'm proiud of the win and I admire the guys for fighting back to win their homecoming game and at the same time getting back on the winning track after the last two games. It's always great for the senior players to walk off the field with a hard fought victory in front of a homecoming crowd."
