The Hubbertville Lion football team traveled north to visit Morgan County and face-off against the Falkville High School Blue Devils of Region 6 on Friday night. The game was held at Burl Vest Stadium on the campus of Falkville High School and paired the Lions (9 - 2) against the Blue Devils (9 - 1). The meeting on the grid-iron was a first for both schools as the teams had never met on the playing field before. Senior players represented the Lions as game captains, with the Lions winning the coin toss and electing to receive the opening kick to get the much anticipated match-up underway.

Dax Benton and Austin Palmer lined-up deep to receive the opening kick but Ryan Sullivan booted the ball short to the right side of the field with Landon Miller misjudging the position of the ball near the side line, allowing the Blue Devils to successfully recover the opening kick. The homestanding crowd rose to their feet and the Blue Devils offensive front lined up at the Lion 21-yard line to open the game with excellent field position. Sullivan lined-up under center with high hopes of capitalizing on the early mistake but the Lion defense held their ground with Nathan Young applying pressure on first down forcing Sullivan to the ground in the backfield for an 8 yard loss. On second down Hunter Woodall took the hand-off but was met by Kris Parson after for the solo tackle after a 5-yard gain setting up third down and 13-yards at the 24-yard line. Sullivan called his own number on third down but Devin Marcum, Brandon Smith and Jordan White were in position for the stop after a 9-yard gain bringing up fourth down and 4-yards just near the 15-yard line. Electing to fight for the needed yardage proved unsuccessful for the Devils as Parson and Young held their position bringing Sullivan down at the 14-yard line and turning the ball over to the Lions in their own red-zone.

Vess Benton and the Lion offensive front lined up and successfully moved the ball down field. First down brought D. Comments from Coach Lamar Harris:
"We really stuck to our game plan and played extremely well tonight. We had very few mistakes on both sides of the ball and that is very beneficial and expected at this point in the season. Both sides of our game was executed with poise, determination and the will to fight for the win tonight. We had some big plays on both sides of the ball and made some defensive stands early in the game as well as deep down field in our own territory. The guys fought extremely hard not to become distracted with several distractions and with the talk about facing a school larger in size. We knew prior to the trip up here that their team had several scoring threats, as well as a run game with speed. We were concerned with how the guys would react to those scoring threats, but I feel as though we were mentally prepared and stayed focused allowing us to leave the field with a hard fought win. I'm proud of the team effort and the victory. It's great to see our fan base behind the team and I'm ready to move on with another game. We've just got to keep our focus and play one game at a time, keep winning and keep our goals as a team to see good things come from our discipline and hard work. It's all apart of the game and I'm extremely proud of this group of guys."
