The Lions historical season came to an end on Friday night as they took to the field to face-off against a familiar opponent, the Pickens County Tornadoes. The Lions and Tornadoes are Region 5 teams and met earlier in the season at Pickens County where the Tornadoes exited the field with a 50 - 7 win over the Lions in game seven of the season. This was the first time ever for a Hubbertville football team to reach the semi-finals in the Alabama High School Athletic Association play-offs.

The cold night didn't keep the faithful Hubbertville fans from pouring out in large numbers to support their team but following the coin toss it only took the Tornadoes three plays from the line of scrimmage to reach their end zone. Dakota Dozier made the solo tackle on the opening kick stopping Jermarcus Brown at the Lion 46 yard line and three plays later Tornadoes Quarterback Devonte' Simon took the ball to the end zone on a 2-yard rushing attack for the score. Following the PAT kick by Brown the score stood 7 - 0 with 11:10 showing on the clock.

Pratt fought his way up the middle with the hand-off on second down but was held just inches shy of the first down marker setting up third down for the Lions. D. Nathan Young took the ball over left tackle and was met by Tyderious Easterwood and a host of defenders after a 3-yard gain forcing the Lions into a fourth down situation. On first down Brown took the pitch-out and rambled around the right side of his offensive line before cutting back across mid-field and scampering down the left side line for what appeared to put the ball deep in Hubbertville territory but numerous flags on the play resulted in the ball being moved back to the 38-yard line. The Tornadoes continued moving the ball deep into Lion territory with the air attack and facing first down at the 14-yard line, Simon handed the ball off to McCoy who raced around the right side line to the end zone untouched for another quick score. Comments from Coach Lamar Harris:
"Tonight we found ourselves in a hard-fought ball game which we knew would be the situation facing this team once again this late in the season. We had a hard time matching up against their speed and their size. Their offensive sustained our drives and it was just a hassle to try to keep up with them with much credit to their speed and the players ability to scramble away from our defenders. They were well prepared for the game tonight and they are to be commended for the win. I am extremely proud of my guys and this group of seniors. At the start of the season we were an unknown commodity not only in our Region but in our classification as well. The guys banded together, stuck together, and remained as one throughout the season and continued with their desire to win even in difficulty situations. I couldn't have ask for a better attitude as an overall team. They've stuck together and stayed together throughout the season. They have a lot of memories to treasure and accomplishments to be proud of, they've reached heights here that no other team has ever reached. We've been blessed to have a pretty much injury free season which was beneficial in leading us this deep into the play-offs. The Seniors will surely be missed, they've been a great part of our success over the last three years and their desire to stick together as a team and play the game has been beneficial to our program and hopefully will benefit our underclassmen as they continue playing the game as well."
