With both teams represented in the semi-finals being from Region 6, the game was billed by many as an immense game, with school administrators making extended preparations as they expected the largest crowd ever to attend a game on the school campus to be in attendance. Marion County won the coin toss and elected to receive the opening kick with McKain Hubbert booting the ball to the 39-yard line where Jacob Robbins signaled for the fair catch setting Aaron Pollard and the Red Raider offense up for their first possession of the evening. The Raiders gained an additional five yards before the first down play as the Lions were penalized for off-sides. Pollard called his own number on first down carrying the ball around the left end where Dax Benton and Nathan Young made the stop after an eight yard gain. Sticking with the rushing attack, Pollard once again carried the ball but this time around the right end with McKain Hubbert and N. Young on the stop behind the line for a one yard loss, bringing up third down and three. Pollard called upon Peyton Wates for the rushing attack but Wates fumbled the hand-off but managed to recover the ball at the line of scrimmage. Facing fourth down and three at their own 46-yard line Pollard brought his offensive players to the line for the snap but time-out was called by the Raiders coaching

staff. Following the time-out the Red Raiders elected to fight for the needed yardage but Zack Reeves and N. Young broke into the backfield and sacked Pollard turning the ball over on downs at the Red Raiders own 37-yard line.

The PAT pass attempt to G. Stidham was broken up in the end zone by Sanders on the two-point conversion leaving the score 18 - 15 with the Lions back on top.

The Lion kicking team experienced misery once again as they were penalized for lining up for the kick-off without the appropriate number of players taking the field. M. Hubbert's re-kick from the 35-yard line was fielded by Sanders at the 22-yard line and returned to the Marion County 42-yard line where M. Hubbert made the saving tackle. Comments from Head Coach Lamar Harris:
"We came out of the locker room in the first half and just didn't have our focus. We really didn't play well at the start of the game and made some mental errors which wasn't our standard of operations. It seemed as though we were "out of synch" and had we had to get refocused quickly or the game could have gotten away from us early. The guys did just that.... they refocused and made some tremendous plays offensively after the wake-up.  Defensively we made some big plays and I was proud of the defensive stand where we held them on their first possession. The two point conversions which were successful for Marion County made it a closer game before the half time break. Following some adjustments during the half, the guys came back onto the field following the half-time break and made some very big plays on defense throughout the third quarter. Our offensive front was more consistent in the second half and we kept our composure as they game continued and we came off the field with the win. I'm proud of the guys, happy to get the win, and I'm proud of the opportunity to continue further into the season to allow this group of guys more playing time. They've overcome some distractions and injuries but they have remained focused on the team concept and their goals which were set early during practice. Our faithful fans have been very supportive throughout the season and we're proud to represent our school, our community and this area and our region in the state championship finals down in Auburn."
